Location. The Royal Sonesta Hotel, located on the world-famous Bourbon Street in the center of the French Quarter in New Orleans, La., exudes European elegance and Southern charm. The hotel is only one-half mile from the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and Harrah's New Orleans Casino & Hotel. Jackson Square, where quaint shops, street performers, tarot-card readers, artisans and other entertainers ply their trades, is just six blocks from the hotel.

Hotel Features. The seven-story Royal Sonesta Hotel is built in traditional French Quarter style, with gabled windows, French doors and wrought-iron balconies from which guests can watch the action on Bourbon Street, especially during Mardi Gras. Desire Oyster Bar, with its chandeliers, twinkling white lights and black-and-white tiled floors, emits an Old French diner vibe. In addition to street-level shopping, the hotel features Mystic Bar, opening onto Bourbon Street and boasting exposed brick walls and live jazz Thursdays through Saturdays. The hotel is considered a prime meeting space, as it features personal receptionists, 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a Grand Ballroom, and houses a 24-hour business center.

Guestrooms. The Royal Sonesta Hotel's 483 guestrooms' balconies face either Bourbon Street or an inner courtyard. Beds are dressed in down duvets and white triple sheeting. Expert Tip. Enjoy a muffaletta at Central Grocery, the home of the original muffaletta sandwich on Decatur Street, less than one-and-one-half miles from the hotel. According to local legend, the muffuletta was invented by Signor Lupo Salvadore in 1906, the original owner of the now-famous little Italian market.

Continue to follow I-10 East toward Slidell.
Take the I-10 East exit from Orleans Avenue/Vieux Carre.

Turn left onto Conti Street.
Follow Conti Street into the French Quarter.
